Improv & Creativity Workshops
The Improv & Creativity Workshops are spaces where artists and community members come together to explore new forms of artistic expression. Focusing on improvisation and creative writing, these gatherings encourage collaboration and the exchange of ideas. Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment. The workshops aim not only to develop artistic skills but also to strengthen social connections among participants. Here, participants are encouraged to let go of their inhibitions and explore the freedom of creative expression. Through theatrical games and dynamic exercises, you will learn to react quickly, trust your intuition, and work as a team. These workshops not only improve acting skills but also promote self-confidence and spontaneity. Come discover how improvisation can impact your life, both on and off stage.
Storytelling Workshops
In this workshop, immerse yourself in the world of storytelling, where each participant will have the chance to explore their creativity and narrative skills. The facilitators, experienced storytellers, will guide participants through narration and improvisation techniques, encouraging personal expression and the creation of unique narratives. Storytelling techniques in both scripted and unscripted form are explored. These workshops promote the exchange of experiences and foster creativity through collective storytelling. They encourage community participation, allowing everyone to get involved and share their own stories. It's a unique opportunity to connect people and strengthen community ties through art. At the end of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to share their stories in a welcoming and collaborative environment. Come discover the power of words and the magic of storytelling!
Theatre in Motion Workshops
Join our 'Theatre in Motion' project, where body expression and improvisation meet. This program is dedicated to exploring the world of theatre in a dynamic and fun way that focuses on understanding our bodies and how to become comfortable with using them in artistic expression. These workshops bring together local artists and community members in a safe space, where we explore methods such as Biomechanics and Clown. It’s a chance to use our bodies as a tool for communication and to express emotions and characters through movement and body position. The sessions are interactive and promote inclusion, allowing everyone to find their own artistic voice. Come move, express yourself, and be part of this unique experience!
Smart Actor Workshops
Camera & Improvisational Acting Technique
A multi-day intensive workshop including a short film shoot
Level: Intermediate Acting skill suggested; Basic improv knowledge desired; No on-camera experience required
In this workshop, we explore smart acting techniques to working on camera and acting without a script that can be used by any actor or director looking to tell stories through video/film. Our intensive workshops bring a guerilla-style approach to learning, with the entire class up on our feet the entire time, shooting each other in a fast and furious focused format. Each of us, teachers included, taking multiple roles, both on camera and behind the lens. Our work culminates in participants creating a collaborative short film shot on the last day of the workshop.
Visiting Artist Workshops
The Visiting Artist Workshops at Co.Arts Azores offer a unique opportunity for artists from diverse disciplines to immerse themselves in Azorean culture. For a period of time, visiting artists collaborate with local talent, exploring the landscape, traditions, and stories of the region. This cultural exchange enriches artistic practices and results in new works that reflect the essence of the Azores. Furthermore, the visiting artist workshops promote events open to the public, allowing the community to participate in the creative process and interact with the artists. It is a transformative experience that vibrantly unites art and culture.
